This has been one of those days that I spent about six hours laughing and enjoying life with a joyful and confident woman, and I am once again reminded of how much I am blessed in my friends. If I have not reminded you often enough, you are beautiful, smart, and dearly loved. You enrich my life (even without our daily talks). Thank you for being who you are.

Really need to get around to planning some sort of reunion...

Corruption, by Beren, read by Beren. Voldemort has captured Harry and for his own twisted reasons has chosen not to kill him outright. Revenge in the Dark Lord's mind requires a fate worse than death and Harry is about to find out what that is.

WIP Drop Dead Gorgeous, by maya, read by mcollinknight. Last I knew, there were six chapters. HP/DM.
DDG's parallel story, The Way We Get By, is told from Draco's point of view. It is currently at 2 chapters. No author descriptions that I can find, so I'll attempt my own. Harry (veela) and Draco are aurors. The rest is pure fun.

WIP Forgive those who trespass by lomonaaeren, read by rhicauldrie. Harry was convinced he had an ordinary, if inconvenient, life. Then Ron and Hermione vanished into the Department of Mysteries. And it seems the only person who might know where they are is a mute Draco Malfoy. Four chapters.

When Harry stumbles into the store and they find out the truth, they decide it's time to be Stealing Harry.Last I saw, there was 1 chapter. SB/RL.

WIP A Year Like None Other, by aspeninthesunlight, read by various. A letter from home? A letter from family? Well, Harry Potter knows he has neither, but all the same, it starts with a letter from Surrey. A letter that sends Harry down a path he'd never have walked on his own. Bittersweet potion: Harry's animagus is a cat. Snape adopts the "stray." novella

The Company You Keep: The war is over. Severus Snape wants to be left alone. Draco wants Snape. Snape decides a stray cat is a better companion than a Malfoy, given what he learned about both Malfoy and Potter in the days after Voldemort had captured Harry. 1 chapter.

Crup-tion of the Not-So-Innocent. If you thought that befriending Draco Malfoy would be easier than defeating the Dark Lord you’d be wrong. Harry Potter has to grow another pair of legs and a forked tail before he can break down the frosty barrier blocking the way into Malfoy’s heart (and his underpants). 2 pages

Cunning as a Ferret: Brief one-shot. To get revenge, Pansy turns Malfoy into a ferret.  Guess who finds him.

Dark Phoenix:  Harry's animagus is a Storm Phoenix. He ends up adopting Snape (It's so cute how discombobulated Snape is with the bird following him around all the time), and they develop a rather adorable relationship. Sadly, it is a WIP, and there is entirely too much "normal" life present after the first six chapters. I liked the Snape and birdie interlude. 16 chapters as of 2/08

MCA, as painless_j terms it, is "magically changed age".  Another identifier for these fics is "de-aged", but I'd like to add the prospect of aging to both of those definitions as well.

It irritates me that I can't find an MCA list out there. Perhaps I'm not using the right search terms. I've seen baby lists, but that's not only what I'm going for (and there are lots of poorly written baby fics). I'm just as willing to see something like "Big" or "Freaky Friday".

The Curse of Fate by Mistress Nika. Immortal Harry, after watching friends and family die over thousands of years, only wants to join his loved ones in death. Believing he's found a way, he sends himself back into the body of his infant self, vowing to change his fate. 23 chapters as of January '08.

Death Eater Takes a Holiday  Dumbledore decides the staff deserves a break without having to worry about things for a while. And while he's at it, he might as well remind them what their students are going through. A few more teenagers get added to the list staying for winter break. 85 chapters, WIP

Decreso Aetas, by Harry's Gryffindor Angel. Summary: "An accident occurs in Charms class that leaves Draco looking after a...slightly different Harry...How will they live through it, and how do others take the change?"  HP/DM; WIP

Fire and the Rose: Hermione and Snape switch bodies. It was an accident, but will Voldie understand?  reminiscent of "Freaky Friday." I'm not entirely sure switching bodies works, but technically a student must act an adult, and an adult a student. HG/SS 40 chapters, complete.

Harry Potter and the Ferratilis Potion: At the Dursleys the summer after Sirius' death, Voldemort sends werewolves to attack Harry. Taken to Grimmauld Place by his rescuer, Severus Snape, Harry devises a disastrous plan to rescue Sirius from the veil, resulting in his being transfigured into a baby. Snape is the only one who can brew the potion to restore him, and is the only one to realize that Harry still retains his 16 year-old-mind. Over the summer and the first two potions which restore him to age eleven, Harry begins to feel that Snape is the only one who understands and can protect him. Is he right or has his deaging muddled his thinking? WIP, 25 chapters as of Aug '07

An Innocent Gift, by Amber Dream. WIP. Author's summary: "Due to Voldemort's... insanity, Severus is forced to take an unidentified potion. When the effects of said potion take place, what does Dumbledore do? Send him to the one person he feels he can trust of course. Not slash." Snape is turned into a baby. 7 chapters as of June '07.

The Living Years by DementorDella: "Severus Snape makes the ultimate sacrifice for Harry Potter. No, not that sacrifice! The other one! And finds Sanctuary in the most unexpected of places." 35,000 words, complete.

Lullaby of a Dragon by Mysticalsoul. Something happens in potions, and Harry is turned into a child. Draco has no choice but to take care of him, and everyday Harry gains one year, changing his mind, his outward appearance and his soul. 9 chapters as of January '03.

Malfoy Child: by Vorbiza. Potions accident turns Draco into a four-year-old and Harry takes care of him for the next four months. 21 chapters, complete.

A Nick in Time by Tira Nog. Harry and Severus, as teachers, end up being turned into seven year olds (due to a meddling spirit). This is not slash. Seven year old Snape is the sweetest thing ever! And so very different from Harry.

Tempus Reversit by mskatonic. When a magical accident in the heat of battle sends Harry and Snape back to 1943, it's a golden opportunity for a fresh start. But destiny is not so easy to escape, especially when Tom Riddle starts taking an interest... HP/SS and some SS/TR. I hate evil Riddle. 3 chapters, complete.

To The Moon by Constant Viligance. Some angst, but so sweet and happy. Draco gets cursed, and turns into a five-year-old... he stays at hogwarts for the summer, Harry takes care of cute little Draco. HP/DM, complete, 5 chapters.

Reincarnated by WingsofaDream. Harry Potter defeated the Dark Lord in his Fourth Year and lost his own life in the process. However, he came back as the son of a high ranking pureblood noble and he remembers everything from his last life. HP/DM, complete, 26 chapters.

Remembrance and Renewal by Avatar Arkmage and Nigel T When the negligence of the Dursleys nearly kills Harry, his soul wanders, and discovers truths about Severus Snape, his true father. Can they now unite against a common foe, or are their wounds too deep? No pairings.

Movies i've enjoyed recently (It happens rarely enough that I check something out or go out to see a movie):

Keeping Mum: fabulous film that resembles Arsenic and Old Lace, in a way. About a dysfunctional family living somewhere in a small town in england: a father who is too caught up in being a preacher to notice anything going on, including the fact that his wife is dragging their mostly undressed daughter out of cars with strange boys, a mother who is having an affair, and a little brother who gets beaten up regularly. And then we have the new housekeeper. Who has a permanently cheerful attitude and a very unique method of fixing problems. And what ever happened to the murderess we meet at the beginning of the film who, years ago, chopped up both her cheating husband and his mistress, then carried them in her trunk across England before getting caught? It's got some serious bits, but we also have light-hearted fluffiness and lots of laughs.

Premonition: I actually liked Sandra's new film, despite the confusing time sequence. Sandra lives through a very intense week in which her husband dies, but she lives through it non-cronologically. She experiences thursday, then tuesday, then friday, etc, which confuses the heck out of her as she tries to fill in the blanks and figure out what to do about it. Best watched with a group of people, so that you can be amused by asking "so what day is it now?" and trying to figure out what happened "yesterday" which will actually happen "tomorrow." It keeps you thinking, and is good at keeping groups of people involved in trying to figure out what's happening. Renee's friend's cousin says he's going to buy the movie, split it, and put it in cronological order, so we can see how everyone else sees sandra (no wonder they think she's nuts). Definitely a drama.

Akeelah and the Bee was a highly entertaining story about a little girl who can spell. contrast her to the kids from the rich school... i went to school with some kids like that in high school. It's adorable.

Take the Lead: Antonio teaches ballroom dance to really rich kids. I think he's kinda bored with the spoiled perfectionists. Then he watches kids from an inner-city public school smash up a car. He goes to the school to find out more without revealing anything, and ends up in charge of the kids in detention. Trying to teach kids who wont listen to anything how to do ballroom dance is a unique experience. Quite enjoyable.

I fear my draco abuse list has been expanded to other characters.

Draco Abuse:
I am particularly fond of Draco Abuse fics. I love reading the fics where the author has deprived him of sight, sound, limbs, mind, etc. I'm slowly compiling the stories I've read; this is far from a comprehensive list. I read too much, and just can't remember... I am restricting my list to stories that I can read (plentiful mistakes/poor story line irritates me), and what I have so far are stories that I've kept b/c I've enjoyed them. I welcome suggestions, though.

A Thousand Beautiful things: Ok, so this one isn't taken forcefully. Draco still has to learn to live life without speaking. Due to evil fathers' curses, drastic measures must be taken. Is strongly reminiscent of the story of the 7 brothers who were turned into swans and their sister, who was determined to save them. Mute, H/D, Complete

Ambivalent Lucidity: Poor Draco's lost both his parents, and not long after that, his mind went as well. MPD, H/D, WIP

Blood and Nails: Draco is missing years of his life. It's more of a mystery story. H/D.

Concubine: Draco is a Concubine, a magical creature something like a veela, but will actually conform to its mate's wishes. After being subjected to years of slavery to the Dark Lord, Harry finally gets around to killing the evil b. and rescuing Draco. WIP

Conquering the darkness: Draco is blind. it's sweet. HP/DM. finally finished!!

Cunning as a ferret: To get revenge on Draco Malfoy, Pansy turns him into a ferret. Ferret-Mafoy runs off into the school where he is found by the one person he least wants to find him. So it's fluffier than most of the things in this list. I'm still debating whether or not it fits.

Depths of Winter: Harry is living an ordinary muggle life, which is disrupted by a rather terrible crash. Draco is paralyzed, H/D, Complete

Draco in Darkness: Draco is blind. Harry notices the reading charm is rather monotonous, and keeps putting Draco to sleep. He decides to take over. Blind, H/D, Complete

Dream that the Gods are Good: Voldemort's destruction has disastrous consequences on more personal levels than the wizarding world in general. Spell damage, H/D, WIP

Forgive those who Tresspass: Harry was convinced he had an ordinary, if inconvenient, life. Then Ron and Hermione vanished into the Department of Mysteries. And it seems the only person who might know where they are is a mute Draco Malfoy. Featuring Pensieves, mutilation, torture, orientation denial, and other fun things. H/D, 34chap Complete

Knives Out: Several years after the death of Voldemort, a depressed Harry Potter decides to rejoin the world of the living, only to run into his old nemesis Draco Malfoy in a Muggle gay club where things are not as they seem. This one is lovely, but sad. H/D, Complete

Oathbreaker: Draco's part fish. I'm not sure why this fits here, but it's my list.

Oscillate Wildly: Draco is in a mental ward. Fascinating, but disturbing story. Complete.

Per Solum Lacuna: Linked diaries heal two lives. wounded leg, H/D, Complete

Promises to keep: Draco loses his legs in a landmine during the war. He's a traitor, Snape's been in prison... and we need some fixing up of some very messed up lives. Complete

Redeem me: Poor abused draco. I'm not as fond of actual abuse when it comes to Draco, but in this story he has a lot to recover from. H/D, Complete

Rejoicing In their Strength: I'm hesitant to add draco abuse of the real abuse kind, but this one was calling to me. Lucius went mad after the war, and he has killed Narcissa and confined Draco to Malfoy Manor while he does magical experiments on him. Draco escapes at times by astral travel. During one of his journeys, he is astonished to find Harry Potter, who vanished after the war, living in the Forest of Dean. H/D, currently four chapters, but this author updates every few days and hasn't left a WIP yet.

Thicker than Blood: Draco needs a magical link with someone else to live. wounded, H/D, Complete

To the Moon: Draco's been turned into a child. It's incredibly sweet... MCA, H/D (not chan), Complete

Broken Mind, Fractured Soul: Beautifully written story which starts when Harry is still young, and due to his treatment at the hands of many different people, his mind slowly fractures into many different personalities. MPD, H/D, Complete with Sequel WIP

Damaged: Voldie won. He took over. He made Harry his... pet? personal torture toy? Draco makes plans towards remedying the situation. Issues, H/D, WIP

Equilibrium: When Harry comes to Hogwarts, Snape has to reevaluate first impressions. We have history of abuse. Complete, sequel is WIP.

Incurable: Harry has not only been abused by the Dursleys, but has also been sent off to a school for juvenile delinquents. He's found not too terribly long after. AU, Abuse, H/D, WIP

Punished: Harry is saved by an unlikely hero. legitimate abuse, H/D, complete

A Reckless Frame of Mind: Harry is cursed: he's forced to always tell the truth, but the spell will make everyone think he's lying. Perhaps Psyche Diver Draco can fix the problem. H/D, 13 chapters, complete

A Secret History: Another of Warholhp's very powerful stories. Turns out Harry has forgotten a lot, but as he remembers, it is explained. H/D, 5 chapters, complete.

Voice in the Dark: The last thing Harry Potter ever saw was Draco Malfoy casting the Killing Curse. When he wakes, his world has changed. Blind, H/D, WIP

Snape:

The Birthday Present Snape gets ... sick. Fun with being exposed to rediculous potions mistakes every day, and between that and everything else that's going on, it's way too much. Complete, 85 chapters

Lack of Morals by Kat Reitz and Tzigane. "He'll sort Slytherin, not Ravenclaw." "Well, I suppose someone must sort there." Let's see... how to describe this. Severus Snape grows up, loves and loses, and Voldemort is evil. It ends happy. SS/DM and others, complete, lengthy 8 chapters.

So, I finally got around to sorting through fav fics (evil computer crash stole so many of my links, so I am determined this will not happen again). This list consists of the complete fics. Now, I had to teach myself all about links and lj_cuts and I managed to teach it to myself in both Rich Text and HTML because my computer is evil and decided to restart itself when I was almost done in HTML.

Allegiance and Sedition, by Silent Auror: HP/DM Draco can't decide which side to join, so he has a foot in both fields working as a "spy". 17 chapters.

All bets are off by Allegra: HP/DM This is what I did rather than studying for my test. It’s all about sex... or not having sex. Malfoy bets that the Gryffindor Sex God can't go without sex for a month. Amusement ensues. Author's note: I didn't mean for Harry to turn into this much of a sod but he took on a life of his own! Give a boy a sex-life and look what happens to him! Ch 11

All I Want: Harry reconsiders his role in the books and decides he doesn't want to be the hero anymore. It's a hilarious little one-shot.

And Then There Were Three by Swtalmnd: SS/HP/DM Snape asks Draco and Harry to participate in the first round of his Petitioner's Courtship as a favour, and they both allow themselves to consider his suit more seriously than anyone expected. Ch 10

Angels and Devils by Beren: HP/DM Harry defeated Voldemort: his act of heroism is famous throughout the wizarding world. He’s trying to finish his final year at Hogwarts in peace, but something peculiar is happening to him, something he never would have expected. It's all rather embarrassing and making his life very complicated. Creature Feature. Ch 10

Awakening to the dream (ATtd) by voxfurie: HP/DM At first, it's ok, if not greatly written. Then, it's dull. Then it's wierd. and after that, it's absolutely fascinating. and long. very long. and this part is complete (50 chapters), with two sequels yet to be written. Basics: Draco saves Harry a couple of times, and we have a very unusual creature feature. I also get very excited about her updates, because not only do i get story, but i can also post a comment to the author... she's so nice that I'm about as addicted to her replies as I am to the story.

Beneath you by Cinnamon: HP/DM "Draco had no idea that the repercussions of stealing Potter's journal and shoving it down the back of his trousers would be so extreme. Featuring nefarious plots, the mating rituals of Slytherins, double-crossing spells." It’s one of the fics I read way back in the beginning, and considering I read through fics by theme, it's one of those during school something happens to make Draco change his views about Harry. Ch 15

The Birthday Present by excessivelyperky: "Snape and his apprentices form a bond which may never be broken, not even in death. And at the end of it, Severus Snape is able to perform a spell that he has never been able to do before."  We see what Severus does for the Order (not to mention everyone else) and people finally notice. Sure, he's got to be debilitated before they realize, though.  No pairings... well, not really. Ch 86

Black Truth by InferiorBeing: HP/DM Draco is Verie, which is sorta veela, but not. He doesn't need to mate, but his body cannot deal with rejection. Oops. It’s got some emotionally rough spots in it, but it ends happily ever after. I am not fond of these particular rough spots. Ch 42

Blood and Nails by Calmardaa. HP/DM Mystery, slash, and not one of my thematic reads. Draco wakes up to find five years of his life are gone... a spirit took possession of his body and basically was him for five years, and is on trial for the murder of 17 people. Surprise ending (well, sorta...). Not to be read if you need to be cheered up. Ch 29

Blood Magic, by GatewayGirl: Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry safe, but his relatives are expendable. Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry looking like his adoptive father, but it's wearing off. Blood is a bond, but so is the memory of hate -- or love. not pairing-focused. Ch 84

Bond by Anna Fugazzi: HP/DM It's that story where, oops, they're magically cursed/bonded and have to deal with it w/o killing each other. It fits into my first wave of stories. Ch 22.

Break and Return by Dracofiend: HP/DM Harry succumbs to Draco's charms, then comes upon his new love caressing Pansy Parkinson at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. After breaking Draco's heart, Harry learns the price of jealousy. I think this is my fav story that dracofiend has written. Ch 10

Broken Mind, Fractured Soul by SensiblyTainted: Harry survived physical and emotional abuse. How'd he stay sane? Multiple Personality Disorder. It's very good, and a sequel is slowly coming into being. I dont think the first story ends in a terribly unfinished manner. The sequel is very much a continuation, and can't be read unless you clearly remember the first part, though. The sequel is slash, the first story is not. Beautifully written. Ch 53.

Changing of the Guard by Lomonaaeren: HP/DM Need a perfect stranger? Come to Metamorphosis. Harry Potter runs the business secretly and becomes whoever's needed for each occasion. Now he's posing as Draco Malfoy's "perfect" boyfriend, Brian. Ch 50

Checkmate by Naadi Moonfeather: HP/DM Finally got around to reading Checkmate. It's one of those fics that I've seen listed for years, but the description never quite intrigued me enough to read it. It's kinda like what I used to read at the very beginning: the more cannon-based fic. Its entertaining. Ch 19

Cure for the Flue: HP/DM a bit of unwanted telepathy and Draco driving Harry nuts with mundane thoughts and sarcasm. Pure rediculousness. I think you can still find it at Malfoy Manor, but either the address keeps changing or there's some problem with linking directly. Ch 8

Death and the Open Mind: HP/SS Harry's having nightmares, blurting out rude things, causing trauma, generally behaving badly, and thinks he may be going mad.

Depths of Winter by Bananacosmicgirl: HP/DM Post Hogwarts, Harry is kind of drifting through life in the muggle world and then happens to be passing by as Draco gets hit by a car. Ch 26

Draco in Darkness by Plumeria: HP/DM Draco goes blind, and Harry passes him while he's listening to a rather monotone reading spell of his homework. Harry decides to read to him instead. Old fav. I seem to be drawn to disability fics. Ch 9

V Draco Malfoy and the Secret Underground Vampire Bureaucracy: In which there is an obsessed Potter, conspiracy theories, bonds, hormones, far too much self-help, and, of course, a secret underground vampire bureaucracy. None of which is as important as the fact that this is not Draco Malfoy's fault

Duration of Emptiness by fireelemental79. Harry and Draco find themselves thrown together by Scorpius and Albus after the death of Draco’s wife and Harry’s divorce. Will Harry be able to help Draco through his grief? Or is Draco so mired in his own despair that Harry won’t be able to pull him out. Lengthy one-shot.

Eclipse by Mijan: HP/DM Draco swore revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and for once, he keeps his promise. The old rivalry turns deadly when Draco abducts Harry for Voldemort. But when Draco’s world turns upside down, the fight to save himself and Harry begins. Old fav. Ch 20

V Eternity With You by SilverAriel: HP/DM A lovely post-voldie ficlet in which Draco, determined to be normal, ignores both the consequences of his bloodline and how gorgeous his friend (they became friends in the war, etc) Harry has become. Perhaps ignoring wasn't the wisest course.  2 lj pages

An Eye for an Eye by Arsenic. HP/SS/DM. Harry owes Draco a Life Debt. Excellently written, I love the subtleties, and this is my favorite in the threesome genre. Ch 6

The Gift of a Second Chance by SilverhairTheory: The final battle. With everyone he ever loved dead around him, Harry Potter uses a secret weapon and goes back to kill the one who caused it all. But when the one he came to kill becomes the one who means the most to him, will he follow his heart? HPTR, Ch 8. Sequel has been started.

A Gryffindor and a Slytherin by Furiosity: HP/DM The war against Voldemort has begun in earnest. Loyalties are tested, allegiances are formed. The Sorting Hat has called for house unity once again, and Hogwarts staff unites behind that message. One sunny September afternoon, Draco Malfoy accidentally overhears Harry Potter confess something deeply personal to his best friend. Barely an hour later, he witnesses a strange scene between Harry and Professor Snape. What's Draco going to do? Why, plan carefully, of course.One of my first fics.. one of the more innocent ones.. Ch 17

The Ghose of St. Mungo’s by Roses. HP/DM Emma pointed this one out to me. After everything in Draco's life goes kaput, he is put to work at St. Mungo's. Thank goodness Harry gets eaten by a dragon and shows up in the ward. It's a nice story. Ch 9

V Harry Potter and the Inconvenient Condition by Mirabella, same author who wrote shadow of his wings. If you don’t like too much smut, dont read this. However, this is the second time i've run into it, and it's still excellently written. HP/DM Lengthy one-shot.

*New* He was He and I was Bunny: The war is over and “eighth year” is about to begin at Hogwarts. But for Harry and Draco, nothing is quite the same. Harry’s looking for an escape, Draco’s looking for a friend. Does a little black bunny hold the answers for both of our boys? Four chapters, entrancing and adorable.

If You’ve a Ready Mind by Maya.  Maya is fabulous and wonderful and wrote another fabulous and wonderful fanfic (though Underwater Light is still my fav... i reread it just to be sure). This one's quite fabulous, and I adore this Draco. He's been sorted into Ravenclaw. I'd normally be bothered by something this non-cannon, but it's so amusing to read Draco attempt to form the ravenclaws into his minions. HP/DM

In Blood Only by E.M. Snape. Everyone is dismayed to discover Snape is Harry's father. Especially Snape and Harry. In this fic, Snape feels very in character. Very well done. Slightly disturbing in parts, because we're rather closer to the death eaters than most severitus fics take us. Ch 45

In The Flesh by Carylic. Fascinating. Only prostitution fic I’ve ever liked. Interesting plot twists and such. 2 lj pages. HP/DM

Incurable by Warholhp. Non-Magic AU. Harry Potter was not sent to Hogwarts at age 11 as his parents intended. Instead, when an altercation with his uncle turns violent, he is sent to St. Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys. Four years later, he takes the opportunity to attend Hogwarts, where he learns to live a life he never thought possible for himself. HP/DM, Ch 45

V Intended by LadyVadar. It's short, complete, and one heck of a good vampire fic. i think this is the first good vamp fic I've managed to find. good lord, and there are people who say they dont like vampires and like this fic? they've clearly never read Sunshine. Although Sunshine had far less smut in a lot longer book... but that's entirely beside the point. Have i mentioned how much I adore vampire stories? anyways, really good, by ladyvader. HP/DM

Invisible to See by Pandaras. The site I found this on said it was loosely based on pride and prejudice... I don’t know if I agree, but I did enjoy it. HP/DM, Old fav. Ch 40

Irresistible Poison by Rhysenn. Under the influence of a love potion, Draco learns that poison doesn't always bring death -- there are other ways to suffer and live. HP/DM, Old fav. Ch 15

Jolene by Romaine24. Harry comes back from a mandatory holiday and finds that an Auror raid on his favourite establishment could expose his biggest secret. However, another has even more secrets than he does at stake.   HP/DM, Ch 3

Just a Few Letters Off by Devi, the Wynter Wytch. A romantic story about two lovers who find each other through the delightful whims of serendipity and a hard-of-hearing owl. HP/SS

Kiss or Kill by Mortalus. HPTR slash. A freak accident transports our favorite attractive psychopath forward in time from 1942 to 1996. Attempted homicide and attempted romance ensue, not necessarily in that order.

Knives Out by Charlottesometimes. Brace yourself for this one... I love Draco and his wit, but it is an emotional one. Character death. Now I need to find myself some happier fics. HP/DM Ch 11

Left My Heart by EmmaGrant. HP/DM Auror Draco Malfoy has disappeared, and Harry Potter has been sent to find him. It has a finished sequel. Ch 10

A Life More (or less) Ordinary by tari_sue. HP/DM. Harry is working at St Mungo’s as a student nurse and finds himself becoming a bit too attached to one of the patients – a dying Veela who won’t let anyone close. A very sweet story. Ch 3

Life in Kind by sansa1970. HP/SS. Harry believes Snape deserves to be immortalised. As usual, he rushes in where angels fear to tread. short

The Lightning Letters by Ari Munami. HP/DM 800 years on from the fall of Voldemort, a young historian sets out to solve the mystery of the Lightning Letters. a tad sad. I equate it to a one-shot, but technically... Ch 4

The Love of a Good Wizard by sweetsorcery. HP/TR. After hearing how, due to his love for a good witch, an incredibly powerful wizard did not turn to power/evil, Pansy decides to go back in time to save the world. Due to circumstance, Harry goes with her.

Love's Appalling Adverbs by Amanuensis. HG/SS. A ficlet that’s really fun to read to someone in dramatic voices (the wording kind of lends itself to dramatic voices) to someone. I read it to little sister. It's hilarious. In which Hermione finds that she cannot write... lengthy one-shot.

Matinee by LadyVadar. HP/DM Why one should not become drunk... especially when cameras are in the viscinity. one-shot.

Never A Breath You Can Afford To Waste by Owensmom. HP/DM Summary: Harry’s with Neville for all the wrong reasons, but he just wants to coast through his carefree summer days after vanquishing Voldemort. An intriguing run in with an old rival sends his world where else? Upside down. one-shot

A Nick in Time by Tira Nog. Harry and Sev, as teachers, end up being turned into seven year olds (due to a meddling spirit). This is not slash, but its sequel is. Seven year old Snape is the sweetest thing ever! And so very different from Harry. mca. lengthy

Oathbreaker by kc-anathema. Harry/Draco, Lucius/Severus. At the start of seventh year, the Malfoys perform a dramatic double-cross and Draco educates Harry about what exactly dark magic is. Ch 28

Objects of desire by Asrael. Bad bets, evil crazies, and very bad things... shudder. I can't say I like the fic, precisely, but I'm drawn to it. Perhaps that's because I think this Lucius is my favorite, out of all the fics.  HP/DM is one of the main pairings. HG/SS is probably the most cheerful pairing of this story, if anything's actually cheerful. Roommate, do not read this one. Ch 19

One Good Turn by empathicsiren: Whereupon there are curses in Harry's bedroom. Whereupon Harry comes home to find wounded and dead in his bedroom. Whereupon Harry heals Snape and vice-versa. Whereupon the Ministry intrudes into the awkward "getting to know you" stage. Non-slash. You'd like this one, roommate-dear. Ch 18

Only Your Shadow by Mijan.  Draco sets Harry up for an ambush, and decides to follow him all day so he can watch the fireworks... but he gets much more than he bargained for.   HP/DM, sorta. One-shot

Oscillate Wildly by V.G. Marks.  HP/DM. A very well written story, based on cannon but a bit AU. It’s a shocking story. After a particularly gruelling Occlumency session, Harry practically comes apart at the seams and finds himself living partway between two lives. One is his life at Hogwarts. In the other, he's been in a mental institution for the better part of six years. What happens when Harry realises his whole life may be one elaborate fantasy? Ch 13

Per Solum Lacuna by Azhure and Wintermoon. HP/DM Enchanted diaries bring solace to unlikely lost souls. It's a wizarding twist on the classic tale of penpals. What will happen when these mystery writers finally meet? Ch 21

Perspective by Booklady. HP/DM I was saving this chapter for my christmas present, and I'm highly pleased I did... it was adorable. Unfortunately, I also discovered the fic ended. :( Anyways, Draco has a hand in a potion with unexpected consequences, giving him a new perspective on life... and Harry, of course.   There exists a sequel, but I don't recall if its been finished yet. Ch 25

Protective Bonds: HP/DM Hermione finds a protection spell, and they test it out on Malfoy. It backfires. It's an old fav. Ch 8

A Reckless Frame of Mind: by lomonaaeren. Harry is cursed: he's forced to always tell the truth, but the spell will make everyone think he's lying. Perhaps Psyche Diver Draco can fix the problem. Ch 13
Its sequel, A Determined Frame of Mind, is 24 chapters long, and also finished. HP/DM. Roommate, I think you will like this one.

Reparations by Saras_girl. Harry is about to discover that the steepest learning curve comes after Healer training, and that second chances can be found in unexpected places. HPDM. 10 chapters. Followed by Foundations. Also see Audio Fics.

Remember Your Heart: by bramblerose-proudfoot.  After Voldie's destruction, Harry takes Snape into his home to care for him. Seems there's more to this plot than initially meets the eye. HP/SS, Ch 20

Secrets by Vorbiza. Beginning with Draco's unexpected arrival at the Dursleys, Harry's summer becomes filled with activity and many secrets. He generates several unexpected allies as he finds himself actively becoming the leader of the Light side. HP/DM, Ch 62

Seige Mentality by Lomonaaeren. I do love this author's work... Harry is the MInistry's expert on Dark magic. But now he has to figure out whether Draco is victim or perpetrator of a dangerous curse- and he stands to lose more than his life if he doeHP/DM, 11 Chapters.

A Single Love by Vera I do adore little Tom, though. ‘Nature versus Nurture. If Tom had been raised by Harry instead would he have grown up to be Lord Voldemort?’ Ch 9

Size Queen by Predatrix. I rather hesitate to say what pairing it is, but it's a match that works… Snape is obnoxious, but endearing in how difficult it is for him to relate to people.

Sleight of Hand by thwax. It's an enthralling story... This is the sequel to Hand to Hand Combat. I read the first one and a half chapters of Sleight of Hand before I discovered it was a sequel, went back and read Hand to Hand Combat (linked) ... the first one isn’t particularly good, but I quite enjoyed Sleight of Hand and it was the taste I had of Sleight that got me through Hand to Hand. Don’t you enjoy fics with warnings? HP/DM, Ch 37

A Slytherin in Gryffindor Clothing by mahaliem. Draco hits his head and wakes up in a world where he's a Gryffindor and Harry is a Slytherin. HP/DM, an old fav, Ch 7

Snakes and Lions by GatewayGirl. When Ron and Hermione get together, they notice only each other. A nightmare prompts Harry to return alone to the empty Chamber of Secrets, and leads to a new look at an old enemy. Talk to Me by Sara's_Girl. A three chapter one-shot... When the usual channels of communication are shut down, the most surprising people can find a way in. A strange little love story. HP/DM

Tempus by Ravenna C Tan. This was a lovely fic. Harry falls into the past, and meets a very different Draco Malfoy (um... ancestor of our DM. apparenlty our DM is bad. meep?) HP/new DM, Ch 20

That Which Divides Us by oldenuf2nobetter. Some people think they know what is best for the savior. Drastic actions ensue, including obliviate and angst. Lots and lots of angst. :) HP/DM, 25 chapters

Thicker than Blood by CorvetteClare. It is Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, and Voldemort has returned to full power. The Death Eaters assault the castle and lay siege to it, injuring Draco and trapping the students inside. Chaos and much angst ensue. I’m not as fond of the sequel, but that one’s finished, too. HP/DM

A Thousand Beautiful Things by Duinn Fionn: A story that seems to be based on the fairy tale of the seven swans and the sister who broke the spell.   There is a terrible posthumous curse, and very sweet not-quite-selfless sacrifice. Draco learns to appreciate the little things in life in the absence of what we often take for granted.  HP/DM, old fav, Ch 9.

Time Out of Place by Cosmic. Not a great, but an intense and consuming read. There is an NC-17 version which changes two chapters a bit, but I can't remember where I put it. HP/DM, Ch 23

Tissue of Silver by Fearless Diva. This is written in a bit of a different style, which is why it intrigued me. Not a bright and cheerful fic, a few years post Voldy, about trying to keep Draco alive... It doesn't have chapters, but it's long. HP/DM. Also see Audio Fics.

To The Moon by Constant Viligance. Some angst, but so sweet and happy. Draco gets cursed, and turns into a five-year-old... he stays at hogwarts for the summer, harry takes care of cute little Draco. Not chan. HP/DM, mca, Ch 5

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by November Snowflake. In the war-torn years after Hogwarts, one man has no knowledge of his yesterdays. (Draco has no memory of the past, and is in St. Mungos). HP/DM, Ch 13

Underwater Light by Maya. Featuring an extremely depressed Harry, in a war-torn wizarding world, about to get the shock of his life when he discovers that Draco Malfoy is slightly more important to him than he would have ever guessed. Including a very odd friendship, lots of angst, suspicions, conflicted loyalties, clueless Ron, on-the-warpath Hermione and two very messed-up boys. I’d been exposed to fic before (friends read aloud to each other when work got to them), but this was the fic that got me reading fic, and gave me my OTP. HP/DM, Ch 22

Union of the Snake: When an old parchment gets soaked during a Potions mishap, an unwelcome visitor from the past appears and turns Harry's seventh year into something entirely unexpected. HP/DM/TR, Ch 24

Veela Enigma by Jennavere. What if some of Draco's ancestors, pretending to be purebloods, concealed the truth about their veela heritage? You'd end up with one very confused Draco Malfoy, who's fallen head over heels in love with Harry Potter and has no idea why. HP/DM, Ch 32

Waters of March by Duinn Fionn. Voldemort's final victim resides with the other spell-damaged wizards in St. Mungo's Hospital. Harry suffers survivor's guilt and finds an unusual beta. Cream-colored knee-high leather boots make a brief appearance. It’s one of the most beautiful fics out there. Duinn-Fionn has very beautiful work. HP/DM. It’s one/five chapters depending on where you find it, sort, one of my favs.

Welcome to the Broom Closet by Janice Chess. Harry thinks he knows how his life will go: Become an Auror. Marry Ginny. Have a family. But then he sees an advertisement in the paper that no one else can see, and his life is turned upside-down. The Broom Closet: you can be anyone you want while you're there, but you won't remember it in the morning. 3 parts.

Saving Brecon

So, three possible floor plans for the renovation of brecon have appeared downstairs in our lounge. I personally feel it is a terrible use of space, and isolates the frosh. Girls do not come to our school to be tucked away in what is called a Hall Group on every other floor. Nor do girls come to this campus to a dorm in which they are trying to renovate the vast majority of our common spaces into dorm rooms. Angie Sheets is coming to speak with us from 7-7:30... right when the vast majority of us have work, chorale, class, or other commitments from which we cannot free ourselves. For goodness sake. So, we have a gigantic poster-board petition that this was too short notice and we can't come at 7, how about 10 when we are all free? Yeah, that'll work... oh, well. So, now I've gotta go crash the art studio when it's open and grab enough paper so that we can draw up our counter-proposal, which allows us to keep most of our common space (though the piano may not be able to live in brecon anymore... but they didn't allow space for the piano either, and we're consolodating the space, so hopefully it will work). Then, hopefully, she will e-mail me a computerized image of the third floor plan so that I can photoshop it... this will all happen in the day that never ends... I've decided I'm skipping my first class just so that i can relax a bit... not that it gives me time in any of the places that I need the extra time. And the logic that it's the seniors who are massing together to fight for the dorm is... interesting. But then again, we're the ones who have developed the spirit and the will-power that living at bryn mawr has given us to fight for a cause... And they will not take away our common spaces without a fight! goodness, i hope she sends me the image soon so I can photoshop it and then not have to worry about it as i run around like a headless chicken with all my classes and commitments today...

The next time either of you go into town, would you buy me a package of ... what were they... chex? the tastless little crosshatch snack things... Or grahm crackers. If you'd get me either, i'd pay you back. I bought some absolutely delicious marmalade at the craft fair the Princess and i went to on saturday, but i've discovered i have nothing to put it on. Elfling pulled out grahm crackers, which is why I know I like that on it. I thought, surely those wierd grahm cracker like things mother bought me wouldn't taste so bad if the marmalade were on them... i was wrong. They're still awful. They have now aquired an Eat Me sign in the kitchen. I should check from time to time and see if anyone else manages to stomach them.
Oh, I have a "hamster" (which happens to look nothing like a hamster... it's just a ball of fluff. but dont tell it that). ask to pet it next time you come to visit. it's a very soft fluff ball.
